Shelley was from Downey, California. He was first paired with Starbuck for a show in 1959, when they were very small children. When they were both 16 years old, they qualified to compete at the 1968 Winter Olympics. Both Starbuck and Shelley attended Downey High School.

2:58 I'm convinced the 1994 Olympics was the greatest of all time, so much legendary stuff went down there it's hard to even know where to begin. I mean of course Oksana's performances are #1 to me... but the amount of badassery that took place at the Lillehammer Olympics was unbelievable.

If they never even did it at all, I wouldn't give a shit... figure skating shouldn't just be judged by the technical bullshit.

She's a beautiful dancer on the ice and that's really all that matters... the whole jumping rules system is archaic.
