Because you totally can't.
I dunno, maybe I'm like the only one who didn't know this.
Maybe it's their return business insurance policy, but it's not like they wouldn't be selling new mopheads anyway.
You CANNOT machine wash those things so why in the hell do they have a picture of some stick figure bitch machine washing the mop head???
I guess it's a dumb idea to try and machine wash a mop head anyways...
I wasn't aware of that though, I figured it was possible.
Um no.

I've never seen such a tangled mess of shit in my life.
You can't put the fucking thing in the washing machine alone.
What're you supposed to do, put it in a bag?? I don't think even that would solve all the issues.
Attempting to machine wash a mop head is the dumbest thing ever.
It COMPLETELY RUINS THE MOP HEAD.
It completely ruins it.
Like completely.
There's no fixing that.

I have another brand new mop head waiting in the wing, but still... it's the principle. I wanted two mop heads. I wanted one mop head available to me when the other one isn't available.

They're like $4 each, so I guess you're supposed to just replace them.
That makes sense!!!

But still, I mean that's wasteful.
What, am I supposed to bust out a new mop head at every point and turn??
Suppose I like my mopheads relatively not gray and dingy looking?
What am I to do then???
They ALWAYS end up looking that way.
Why do they make mopheads white??
It's always a super light color.
Wouldn't it be better if mopheads were already gray or something??
Am I the only one with a gray mophead???
That's just what happens, right??
So why make them white??
Can't we all agree that's dumb??
Why can't we have purple mopheads??

Wow look, these come in different colors!!!
So it seems like for the cheapest you can get, it's gonna end up that heinously ugly gray color.
But if you're willing to splurge on your mop a little, you can get colors that aren't stupid and don't suck.

And logically, you should never need to "wash" a mop head anyway...
That is probably one of the most important points to make here.
They inherently stay in a washed state, especially if you dedicate a few soaks in hot soapy water to them every few uses.
I understand all the elements at play here...
I'm really glad we had this discussion.

Is it worth paying twice the price to have a blue mop head??
Hmmm...
Well, a lot of the reason I get tired of the mop head is because it's so damn fucking ugly...
I have to look at it all the time.
I figure if I can have a mophead that isn't ugly inherently because it's dingy and gray when it used to be white...
I will feel better about things and won't need to change the mophead as much.
So with good maintenance on the mop head itself, it could last long enough to be worth the price.
Will I be ordering a blue mop head? Probably not. I like to get this kinda bullshit from brick and mortars.
But it's nice to know it exists, it makes sense and I'm glad I'm not the only one who's come to these conclusions.

And I'll also say that I think a variety in mop handle colors needs to be a thing.
Listen, a mop is always going to be an essential. Nothing works better than a mop.
We'll never not need them, so it only makes sense that they should catch up with the times.
They're usually red or green or some kinda stupid shit like that, but you know what color they need to be as a standard if they're to appear at all pleasant?
Yellow.
Duh.
I would like to have a purple mop handle though.
Actually, I want a rainbow mop handle. Make it happen.

Why have we LONG had this kind of variety in dusters...
https://www.amazon.com/Kitchen-Home-Stat...B01MEDIIBL
https://www.amazon.com/Kitchen-Home-Rain...B07GL4JVNJ
Yet we don't get the same variety in mop handles??
Oh and just so you know...
TELESCOPING HANDLES OF ADJUSTABLE LENGTH are an absolute REQUIREMENT.
There is never an exception to this.

Just out of curiosity, why are you using an industrial mophead? Why not just get the standard household mop? Do you have one of those giant plastic wheeled tubs with the slot-machine-like squeeze handle for wringing purposes?

Well those are just the ones they sell at WalMart and I thought that was the kind everybody uses.

to solve this issue, i'm going to eventually invent a zamboni style roomba that mops and can be optionally piloted by a kitty cat.

Generally speaking those mops are used for commercial spaces where you can swish in wide swaths, but they're not great for homes or spot cleaning because you can't get the type of wide arching movement you need to be effective with them, so a standard home mop (aka "sponge mop") works better because instead of making these wide, powerful sweeping movements, you can just press down firmly and skitcha skitcha your way to a clean floor.

Just doing my part to help you achieve a position of lording over the mop domain. I feel that knowing about and understanding the sponge mop is key in this regard.

I swabbed the deck Navy-style when I had acres of bare hardwood floor.
