Pretty sure chicken doesn't have those pieces of darker meat.

It's usually around the bone where you find it, so I think it has something to do with blood vessels.

Anyways, in my experience people pick around it and leave it.

Maybe there are nutrients in it they don't need, but that appeal to me.

Well actually no, it can't just be turkey, it's chicken too cuz I remember going through the KFC drive through and people requesting "No dark meat" in their bucket of chicken.
