Yeah. It's the other cars on the road that you have to worry about. That's very true.

I put ground beef in with my pinto beans today. I like this combination. I did pour off a lot of the grease.

I've been craving some hamburger action lately. Like, HARDDDD.

I got another one of those green squashes today. Walmart calls it calabacitas, which some call Mexican zucchini.
But the other squash that I thought it was, the kousa squash, is also called Mexican zucchini. I think all these squash experts are making shit up at this point.

Ham in beans is stupid good. Even better than using bacon.

We used to put salt pork in beans, but I'm more likely to have bacon on hand than anything else.

I'm not big on ham hocks because it get the uneasy feeling it's too similar to human flesh. It does give the beans a good flavor though.
My favorite bacon is Wright's apple wood smoked bacon. They have it at Walmart everywhere I've been.

It freaks me out a little. I mean I'll eat it, but the association is there.

You're probably totally right, that's what second-hand freaks me out.

It may just be the way the thick, fatty skin looks when it's boiled. I don't have a problem with fried pork rinds, which is the same thing.
