Gene Tierney: Most beautiful classic actress of all time...
#1
I've discussed Gene Tierney here and there, and now it's time to compile a thread about her.

My obsession with her began around 2004... it was during that time that I fell down a rabbit hole of classic actresses and started collecting shit tons of photos.

Credit goes to this photo of Veronica Lake for opening up the rabbit hole for me...

There used to be a site called MovieMaidens.com which housed photos of all these ladies by decade/era. They're not around anymore, but my second favorite source is still around...

Anyway, I really fell in love with Gene Tierney.

These are the posts I've written about her so far...

At 13:24 the interviewer asks he what it's like when she "has the attacks"...

She says "I hallucinate, I imagine the communists."

Wow.

I thought that was very interesting and unexpected.

That link states she thought people were poisoning her food or the communists were after her.

Fascinating.

She's always reminded me of somebody (no idea who) and it creeps me out. Even today as I look at her, I just can't shake the feeling. I was never into Marilyn Monroe either. I was team Gene Tierney and Veronica Lake etc.

A lot of the Scorpio ladies look exotic even when they're white, no BS... like Veronica Lake:

And Gene Tierney...

Two of the hottest most gorgeous chicks of all time, both Scorpios...

It's no coincidence!

I dunno, I'm convinced Gene Tierney was the finest, sweetest piece of meat that ever walked the planet but...

Convincing as an outlaw? Lmao no.

I'm making this thread because I intend to watch a few Gene Tierney/later life interviews today.

She was a fascinating woman and very intelligent...

Her story is quite sad though.

It is said that her first child Daria was born deaf and mentally disabled because a fan had broken a rubella quarantine in order to come visit her at a gathering...

Quote:Tierney's friend Howard Hughes paid for Daria's medical expenses, ensuring the girl received the best care. Tierney never forgot his acts of kindness. Daria Cassini died in 2010, at the age of 66.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Tierney

Gene Tierney was put through a huge amount of "treatment" for mental problems and was electrocuted many times. Who knows what else they did to her or what kind of drugs and other experiments they might have done on her.

Quote:Gene entered a sanitarium in New York City. "And there, to my eternal regret," she says, "I received my first electric shock therapy."

Starts at 2:00...

There are very very few interviews with her.

The audio isn't great but this is all there is.

Suicide is the opening topic of this interview...

Popcorn2

Quote:In late December 1957, Tierney, from her mother's apartment in Manhattan, stepped onto a ledge 14 stories above ground and remained for about 20 minutes in what was considered a suicide attempt.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Tierney

Could you imagine something as fine as Gene Tierney standing on the ledge of a building contemplating suicide?? Damn, yo.

4:38 ROFL. Wow. Holy shit man. This lady was truly fucking amazing.

4:56 she explains that the iconic Laura poster was an enlarged photograph of her with paint applied on top to make it look like a painting.

That's how perfect Gene Tierney really was...

https://wondersinthedark.files.wordpress...a-crop.jpg

https://premingernoir.files.wordpress.co...mark12.jpg

https://www.austinchronicle.com/imager/b...36381.jpeg

Usually paintings are perfected versions of people posing, but for Gene Tierney, they had to do it in reverse.

I dunno, I just find the story fascinating.

You gotta admit that's pretty interesting.

Classic hollywood was sort of glorious, still corrupt and insidious, but it produced some quality shit.

I think Gene Tierney is ENTRANCING.

Because she REALLY IS just that mesmerizing by HERSELF.

It's not just the filming techniques and stuff.

They don't make 'em like they used to though, there are very few entrancing actors/actresses out there these days.

I actually can't think of any right off the bat, which is totally bad.

There's like no one.

Lol...

6:04 OMG "Laura" (1944)...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_(1944_film)

SUCH a great film, like yeah, it kind of is entirely centered around Laura's image...

But it's still excellent, and Gene Tierney was mythically beautiful enough to make it real.

Not gonna BS though, Gene's story is hard to watch/listen to because it was SOOO hardcore.

That's the truth of a lot of these early hollywood peoples' lives and there are tons of examples of it.

After this I'm gonna watch a later life interview with Veronica Lake because I won't even believe it exists til I see it.

Most of their lives were kinda heinous stories TBH.

But if you think about it, isn't almost anyone's life like that??

6:28 she tells the story of her "crooked teeth" but they're not crooked, they are actually referencing her overbite...

That was her most iconic trait in the media.

https://t1.thpservices.com/previewimage/...-29637.jpg

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/...L._AC_.jpg

Repositioning teeth changes bone structure somewhat... cuz they are in a certain position since early in life so your body grows that way.

People should stop fucking with plastic surgery... this is why today's popularized cosmetic procedures are so bad.

Gene Tierney just NATURALLY looked that way.

You either look like that or you don't, lmao.

Most people fuckin' don't...

shrug

Thing about Gene Tierney is that she was basically abused.

She was personally abused, systematically abused...

Probably traumatized and essentially brain damaged by conventional medical "treatments" for crazy people at the time.

I think one of the questions that people really have is what did these classic movie stars do in those other decades of their lives after they retired??

I've got a thread about super elderly people...

"What's the deal with living to be super old?"

https://www.sectual.com/thread-4893.html

And specifically super old hollywood people...

https://www.sectual.com/thread-4892.html

Oooo, check this pic out:

https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/ame...d607434766

I've NEVER seen the full photo and I've been collecting pics of Gene Tierney since 2004.

There's GLITTER in her hair.

I mean...

DAYUM.

That's some straight up Prince shit right there.

This interview hadn't been uploaded when I made this thread...

Here is Gene at 60...

She is so sweet man, agh.

0:11 when she did the hug thing toward the audience applause, I legit almost cried. Agh.

1:28 she got an autopen back, lmao, oh God no. Roflmfaolol. See, even famous people hate autopens.

1:40 it's too bad this upload isn't better quality... her eyes really shine. She kept this certain cuteness about her even as she grew elderly.

2:28 adorable smile.

24:50 everything was so much classier back then.

38:32 lol I like this guy's fitness routine.

38:48 lmfao she basically said joggers look fucking miserable.

45:50 roflmao that was one hell of a Freudian slip.

47:10 lmao, seances. You can tell this guy is a great storyteller.

Quote:During their separation, Tierney met John F. Kennedy, a young World War II veteran, who was visiting the set of Dragonwyck in 1946. They began a romance that she ended the following year after Kennedy told her he could never marry her because of his political ambitions.

How the fuck have I never heard of this before now???

No wonder she was always so freaked out about "the communists"...
