Unpopular opinion but...
I'm kinda thinking maybe they're not.
Earlier tonight I saw a cat playing with a mouse to death...
And it was pretty fucking gnarly.
I mean...
It was pretty bad.
The mouse had a gash across its side and it was "squeaking" while the cat was kicking it around like a hockey puck...
All the while acting like it's the most innocent activity in the world.
It only sounds like "squeaking" because mice are so small. If it were bigger, they'd plainly just be screams.
Heinous, TBH. Not a fan. The whole thing's got me thinking.

My issue with it is...
If we're gonna argue that animals kill other animals for population control...
Then where's the efficiency?
What's the point of swatting a mouse around and clawing/biting it til it's mortally wounded and eventually dies?
That's not fast or efficient, and therefore I find it sus.
If it was a fast process, it would make sense and I'd buy the standard explanation.
But due to the...
Bizarrely sport-like nature of the whole thing, well...
I gotta say, I think the truth is a little less innocent than mere population control.

I already dislike people and don't want them in my life.
I was thinking animals were the only creatures worth having around, but...
Now if it turns out that animals are just assholes too, and I don't want them in my life either??
That's gonna make shit even more simple for me.
So am I just looking for excuses to kick animals out of my life too?
Or am I right to wonder if they're really as innocent as we always like to pretend they are?

Not ALL animals kill stuff in that type of long drawn out manner.
Do they??
I'm trying to think of examples.
Like carrion birds...
They only eat stuff that is already dead, right?
Should we judge the innocence of animals by their method of killing?

Ok I will give you one dun bass.
There is a video on youtube (im not going to post it so you do some work for once) of a cow munching grass then gobbling up a baby bird in said grass.
It liked the protein.

Gobbling something up is a lot different than swatting something to death til it dies though.
It's about efficiency in the methods.
Cuz if it's efficient, it doesn't seem devious or evil IMO.
But if it's some weird blood sports kinda shit, then I don't think that's an "innocent" creature.
There's just something amiss.
I think we've been wrong about animals.
Not saying they suck, not saying I hate them or something...
But I dunno if I can look at the whole thing the same again, I really don't.

Just saying that I don't think I'm necessarily willing to deal with them anymore in the future if that's the truth about things.

Yeah I think I'm done with animals.
I still like them more than people, but...
Think I'm good.

I totally understand that they are like children.
Or is it you are sad when they die?
Either way life is more free if you don't have to look after anything than you.
You can always go to a zoo or something.
it speaks volumes that single ladies always gravitate to cats , embracing their inner demons
I have 2 cats and I accept their need to do some torture
my dog is not accepting of this behavior even though orange kitty tries everyday to be his best buddy
