Take a picture of it, then sell it or throw it away.
Get rid of all your furniture besides whatever you ACTUALLY USE DAILY. If you sleep in a big huge bed, get rid of that bullshit and switch it out for a hammock. If you have multiple couches, just why? You don't even need one. Get a recliner. Do you have a huge dining room table? Get real. You don't need that. A small desk, an office chair, a couple of side tables, a small table for the kitchen, a couple chairs... Fuck a bunch of furniture, it takes up so much room, no one needs it. It's just a bunch of clutter. Get rid of it.

If you have too much furniture to sit on, your guests will take it the wrong way and think they're welcome to stay longer.
If the only "guest bed" you have is a hammock, how long do you think you're gonna have to host a guest? Lmao! I will never own a bunch of bullshit furniture again.

There should be basically nothing in your house.
Excess crap belongs in the shed for storage and should be sorted through and sold/donated/trashed yearly at least.

I think they're uncomfortable, huge, and totally unnecessary. The only piece of conventional furniture I'd ever have is a recliner. I actually totally fucking love recliners. Best one I ever had probably cost like $300 at the most... I do not like power recliners. I want a fucking handle. I think recliners are important. If you have multiple people in a household, they can all have a recliner. Couches are stupid.

In keeping with the OP topic...
Cleaning the furniture out of a deceased loved one's house is probably THE most daunting task. You can't move the shit alone, no one has anywhere to put it. What a nightmare. People need to start simplifying their lives and getting rid of all the heavy bullshit in their homes.

I need to leave somebody a note explaining how to disassemble my loveseats when I croak. It's really easy. The arms slide into brackets on the bottom, then the back slides into brackets on the arms. So... yank off the back then yank off the arms to disassemble.
They're gonna have no problems cleaning my place when I die. It was pre-death-cleaned from the get-go. ![]()

I think furniture these days is way easier to put together, so yeah that is an upside to things.

I've noticed that if I take a picture of something and then get rid of the item... when I look at the picture, it brings back the memories/feeling associated with the item and I don't miss physically having it. It actually works.

I actually feel relief that I don't have it anymore, so I don't have to think about storing it or whatever.

I couldn't see buying the equivalent seating capacity in recliners because:
1. They would be expensive and heavy. 2. I'm the only one here 99% of the time, so they wouldn't get used much. 3. Visitors would definitely get too comfortable and not want to leave. The loveseats are lightweight and can seat 6 adults. Eight skinny people could fit in a pinch. I'm never gonna have more people than that in my house at one time. Even if that many people suddenly developed an interest in seeing me, which they won't, they'd get on my nerves pretty quick and I'd have to boot them out.

My dad has three recliners. If he gets too old and sick to move around, they can throw one out and put a hospital bed there.

They should make recliners that are even more like mini beds so people who can't let go of the classic bed paradigm will still be able to downsize.
Most recliners aren't comfortable enough to sleep in as a bed replacement. Mattresses are a scourge, they're so huge and bulky and hard to dispose of. You can't even clean a mattress. It's just not the right way to live at all.

That's what mattress covers and pads are for.

Meh. Like yeah but also eh.

You should invent a hammock chair that works like a recliner. Throw me a few royalty bucks when you do, since it was my idea.
