[Redacted]? Isn't that the site that tried to be like Twitter? No I have never seen an IP from them. Only time there's ever been a swarm, the IPs are from Microsoft or something like that.

The guest wifi at the VA hospital is blocking my site as "other adult content" because some chick used the domain name to sell her nude pics 15 years ago.

[Redacted] swarms your site to generate a link preview if someone posts a link there.

That is pretty fucking weird.

I mean where did they get the database of domain names they use?

Was whoever owned that site previously really THAT popular as to get blacklisted in the first place??

I dunno...

I find it sus.

How did you even figure out that's the reason they blocked it, did you do some digging or does it tell you that info somewhere?

Praying no one ever posts my site on [redacted] then?!

But yeah, that is a bad site, it's a den of weirdos like Gab was, only [redacted] has more perverts.

That's what it said when I tried to go there just now. I submitted a request to the content rating outfit to re-evaluate it.z

I blocked all of the [redacted] related bots after they added 200 views to some of my threads.

What I don't understand is why they care whether people at the VA are looking at nudies or not. Lmfao. Like damn, can we make an exception for the veterans?!

I've never seen a swarm of that many bogus connections. You may get miniswarms of 20 or 30 every now and then, but it's easy to kick them off and it's very rare. At least in my experience. I'd stay the fuck away from a site that sends out that kind of traffic, I find it very messy.

You're not supposed to use government equipment to look at porn. The content raters don't know who's doing the looking anyway. They just look the site up in the blocklist.

The content rating firm is called Fortinet. They e-mailed me back and said they changed my category to "Newsgroups and Message Boards."

This is what I gathered from a thread on another [redacted] site about the swarming thing:

Realer than Ten Bitches Wrote:[Redacted] rationalizes this on the grounds that neither the user who posted the link nor the sysop of their home node can be trusted to provide an accurate description of the target page; therefore they need over 200 bots from other nodes to independently verify the page metadata.

First off, if you don't trust another sysop, then why are you exchanging content with his site in the first place? Are you really that stupid? Is anyone?

Secondly, adults don't need to be protected from disinformation by some blue-haired would-be nannies in Silly Valley. Did you ever consider that someone might post disinformation as a harmless joke? Ever hear of ASCII trolling, ya fucking n00bs?

... blah, blah, blah ....

Anywho, I reset the view counts on those three threads to moar reasonable values.

TWO HUNDREDDDDD BOTS.

I mean that is just insane.

It shouldn't even be allowed.

I am glad I don't have that issue on this site...

Anytime I see a weird swarm, I deal with it, but it just doesn't happen often thankfully.

I can remember about three times over the course of 7 years when I have seen an offensive amount of bots online.

There's "normal" and then there's just totally offensive and suspicious.

I see normal "miniswarms" every couple months, and they're easy to shut down pretty fast as soon as you see them.

I am not fussed over the thread view numbers... I think that's being a bit anal, but you do you, boo.

What really freaks me out is certain threads that are constantly being found from searches by people who are creepy fucking stalkers.

I am not gonna mention specifics but... wow.

I feel bad for some of these internet famous folks, they attract the absolute dregs of internet society.

I use the thread views to get a general idea of traffic without having to study the logs. They should be realistic. A thread that has less than 200 views shouldn't suddenly have 400+ views less than a minute later.
