Yuzuru Hanyu, one of the greatest figure skaters of all time, has retired into ice dancing.

Pray for him...

He's drowning in bitches.

Yuna Kim - Free Skate - Ladies' Figure Skating - Vancouver 2010

Her dress is crazy gorgeous but it looks a lot like the one Lipinski wore in 1998 up there.

0:55 oh I'm already lovin' this chick.

1:12 oh hell yeah, she's art on ice, easily the best out of all these other Olympic gold chicks besides Oksana.

1:33 crazy epic, hella badass.

1:47 leagues beyond perfect, great fuckin' music too.

2:54 oh baby yes.

4:23 legendary performer...

Damn near made me feel something.

I just re-watched this, everything about her pegs off the charts.

I think I will look for more.

10 million views on this one, it must be good.

She skates to the best music out of anybody else besides Oksana.

Probably the most beautiful outfits too.

3:04 so graceful and effortless, oh my gah. Got misty eyed with that one, not gonna lie.

3:34 such perfect form, it's insane.

4:10 she's friggen formidable... I bet all her opponents had nightmares before competing against her.

5:10 these figure skaters have gotta be the loveliest creatures God ever made. Right up there with cats.

I would have been baggin' up that Kleenex if I was that guy, keep that shit under my pillow.

God man, peep this outfit. Might be the coolest ever. All of her outfits have a touch of Scorpio in 'em.

1:03 oh my God, she's wicked, WICKED. Off the charts, insane, I'm shaken, I'm stirred, it's on.

I love her nude skates.

1:47 even the edges of her dress while she's spinning show the perfection of her movement, micro precision.

She's so perfectly expressive too. She shows just enough personality but she doesn't overdo it and it's just believable enough.

2:48 uh oh, there's a storm brewing. She's about to blow our shit away.

2:56 this is where she's the most confident and into what she's doing, you can tell. She's low key edgy, I love.

3:46 what'd I tell you? Consider yourself blown.

She's out of this world. Definitely a GOAT. Not in my personal top charts but she's a goddess for sure.

Whoa. Dude.

I typed that before I even knew this was some James Bond shit...

I swear I didn't realize. Maybe I recognized it subconsciously? I'm not even really into James Bond, TBH.

Odd.

It's a damn shame we don't have better footage of Gillis Grafstrom...

He was handsome AF too...

It's seriously tragic that there's no way to see him in action.

There's actually some footage of Ulrich Salchow...

115 year old footage, but at least it exists so we can get an idea of his style.

Dick Button is the only other male figure skater to win the Olympics twice, 1948 and 1952...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Button

He just died this year. He lived to be 95. Wonder what he thought about the sport these days??

The filming was horrible back then I guess, y'all gotta zoom out.

Still great that there is good footage of him though.

Oh this is way better.

0:50 yeeeeeah, he'd prolly curbstomp Yuzuru.

There'd be no beating Dick if he was alive/young today.

I stand corrected, Karl Schafer won twice too, in 1932 and 1936.

Zero chance there's any decent footage of him.

Looks like he was a fucking beast though, look at all the 1st places...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Sch%C...re_skater)

Dude oh my God no fucking way...

THERE'S ACTUALLY FOOTAGE.

That's him on the bench? Damn dude, look at that sexy bastard, this guy's got charisma.

OooOoOoooOooo, I like him.

0:30 I'ma keep it real, looks like Karl would prolly curbstomp Dick AND Yuzuru.

I genuinely don't think either one of them would have a prayer.

1:34 Karl would definitely win.

Dick seemed cool but he didn't have this kind of personality. I think Karl would beat Dick no problem. And he might break a sweat against Yuzuru, but he'd still win.

It's really not fair to compare these guys to modern day skaters since the footage is so old and whack, and figure skating has changed in the past ~100 years.

For greatest of all time status, I may have to call a tie between Karl and Yuzuru. Although, if there was footage of Karl that met today's standards, he might easily be #1.

This guy was a THREE TIME Olympic champion though.

I'm so friggen pissed he's too old for there to be any footage.

I mean the guy died in 1938, age 44.

I guarantee he would have been the fucking best of all of them if there was footage.

Soooo pissed. I'm serious. I'm so serious.

I can just feel it. He would have been the fucking best.

We're so ripped off that we don't get to see that shit.

UNANIMOUS three time Olympic champion. Like it was no contest.

He won in 1920, 1924 and 1928...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ol...re_skating

The only other person to win thrice was Sonja Henie in 1928, 1932, and 1936.

So we haven't had a triple winner in like 100 years.

I find it kinda suss.

I wonder if shit was just different back then.

I mean, obviously it was, but how so??

Is it really possible that just... nobody that great has come along since??

I guess it's possible.

Nathan Chen is supposed to be about as good as Yuzuru Hanyu, let's check him out...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Chen

He won the gold medal at the Olympics in 2022...

He's super cute.

The outfit isn't flashy, wonder if that's a theme with him. If you told me he was straight, I'd believe it.

0:47 I like to pay attention to what they do immediately after pulling a big move... seems like his tactic is to do THE MOST and then recover with something simple. That's a stylistic choice, I'm not dissing him for it. It's just an interesting approach.

1:20 I mean he's great, but if I was in bed, I'd be falling asleep. Which is only sort of not a compliment.

2:18 you know, he's a bit more classical in his approach, there's a lot of "figure" to his skating. He does do great footwork.

2:24 he's definitely gorgeous though, I give him a 10 for that.

3:05 he nailed that for sure.

3:19 okay, I'm awake again. Hello.

I think he's off the charts adorable, but he ain't no Yuzuru.

Apparently he's a rebel tho...

Black flips are forbidden.

Let's see what else he's got...

I like to see the stuff from before they won the Olympics, just to see what got 'em there.

He's definitely conservative with the outfits, no sequins for this guy.

0:58 I actually even kind of like the commentators on this one, they're all genuine and stuff.

I do hate all the ad banners they put around the ice though, it sucks. These skaters deserve better than to be pictured in front of that lameass shit, they're living art bro. Like for real. Keep it classy and take the fucking ads down.

2:48 his body is freaking glorious. Perfect quad, this isn't "near" perfection, it IS perfection.

3:32 killer. He can definitely be an ice dancer someday like Yuzuru if he wants to, lol.

I don't think he's gonna be doing the Olympics again though. But hey, he doesn't NEED to.

He's probably focused on something else now.

Let's look it up...

Quote:Nathan Chen, the 2022 Olympic gold medalist in men's singles figure skating, is currently focused on his education and future career in medicine. While he has stepped away from competitive skating, he hasn't ruled out a return for the 2026 Olympics.

Ah, see. A career in medicine. Definitely easier on his body, probably for the best.

I doubt he'll do the 2026 Olympics, just because apparently there's a new kid in town...
