I've been thinking about retro websites recently too.
I'm working on a command line script that pulls a lot of file editing functions from different Linux programs together into one interface. Things like video editing, audio extraction, making a GIF animation from a video clip, image manipulations, and editing Exif, IPTC, and ID3 embedded tags.
Naturally, I started thinking about adapting it to work with the website program I previously wrote. I had a few other ideas about that program too. I want to reorganize the whole UI of that site to allow limited public read access.
The file editing capabilities would add a new dimension to file sharing, as members could copy other members' files, and make mashups, memes, and what-not out of them. Or members could collaborate on large files.
