As far as traditional desktop software goes, it's mostly just features that the corporate design-by-committee mentality decides would be cool or useful or make the product easier to use. The results are often tragically off base.
The corporate police state features in social media and modern devices are definitely negative.
* Tracking and surveilling users, in the real world as well as online
* Secretly collecting, sharing, and selling users' private data
* Pushing the favored ideology of the ruling elite while suppressing both critique and competing ideologies in a global forum
* Using AI and SJWs (collectively known as NPCs) to police their sites instead of experienced moderators
* Denying all of the above, vowing to reform when caught, only to be caught red-handed again at the same or another stunt.
These grievances have been rehearsed time and again, but corporate website owners evidently do not give a shit about the communities they started. The sites are only cash cows, as are their users. These people are the very definition of sociopaths.
Wanna know what a lot of pholks say to me when I talk about making their own community websites?
* "It'll never be as big as Facebook."
* "Why bother? You won't get rich from it."
Because the whole point of making a community site is to milk it like a cash cow, right?
