Like yeah, I'm not a total idiot.
I get that spiders can be dangerous, it's not an "irrational" fear.
But the LEVEL of fear I had over it was brainwashing from a very early time in life...
It's something I can actually trace back to the origin and know EXACTLY where it came from.
And I'm not saying those fears weren't placed there for good reason as far as the perspective of what took place.
But for me, now? That totally irrational LEVEL of fear is not very logical.
Especially because of where I live...
I think there are three spiders in North America that are even poisonous to humans to any considerable degree...
Black widows, brown recluses, and some other shit I can't remember.
In general, bites are rare. Of course they do fucking happen, but one thing I think is so crucial to understand is...
Spiders don't WANNA have that fucking confrontation.
A couple weeks ago I saw this furry black spider in the bathroom. Poor thing was fucking terrified. It was trying so hard to run away and get to safety... it was a super hardcore level of empathy that I felt for it. Poor thing just didn't want no part of that shit. I just left it alone.
Spiders eat pests, like other insects that you don't want around.
So I mean, they ARE doing something.
That said, if one gets all near me or up on me and is clearly oblivious to what MY fucking space is? I'm gonna kill it. It's just that damn fucking simple.
Spiders eat prey and they lord over their domains...
Well, so does the human.
And I mean, let's be honest about it...
I live in a fucking house so I don't have to deal with all the fucking pests of nature, lmao.
There's a limit. I WILL kill 'em.
But I don't wanna have to.
So I'm trying to practice understanding, awareness, trying to look deeper into the matter, trying to understand why they do what they do, how they live, their mode of operations, etc.
