Sorry to snip your response, but I have direct experience of this. You are totally correct. I had to go to court in Canada to get access to my kids many years ago (canadian mother), and was told by my lawyer that I'd have a really hard time getting full custody because the Canadian family law system sees the US as a major danger zone for the kids. In other words, they see themselves as so above the US in terms of what's best for the kids, that they believe a foster home in Canada is superior to a loving father in the united states. He indicated that the way the US views Mexico, that's the way Canada views the US, but on steroids. Having spent a lot of time there, I don't quite agree; I mean I think that's a bit overwrought. Canada is like one giant Karen, in my view.
