I was watching a movie about Gia Carangi lastnight and there was a scathing review left on the movie by someone who knew Gia in real life, knew all of them, etc. They were complaining that the movie was not accurate to Gia's life at all, and just bitching in general. One thing they said was that most supermodels were plain and boring at the heart of it, and without the proper lighting, tools, makeup etc., they don't even look that great. They were implying that at least Gia looked great as a mainstay and was a unique personality and presence. I thought it was an interesting point. But mostly what ruins womens' looks is having children. Other than that, it's just laziness. There are a lot of factors that can play into being a fatass though, hormonal imbalance not the least of which. Men used to never have problems with hormonal imbalances but now because of all the estrogen mimickers, they are running into issues.
