I feel like it's kind of unfair to say that my experiences with other kids my age were all total crap...
I had great times with some people, but it was all interlaced with an undertone of something just negative.
If you weren't being ganged up on and bullied by some other kids, you were getting preyed on by some whacked out older person...
If you weren't in love with somebody and tormented, you weren't alive...
If you weren't insecure, you were obviously never born.
It was a generally trash time in life as it pertained to other people, but alone I had a great time and enjoyed it more than any other time in my life. Thanks to the internet and no romantic personal relations, my teenage years were heaven.
I had a huge (old dilapidated) house to my disposal, a great stereo system, and was often alone.
I could do anything I wanted (which was never anything that bad, and I never sneaked out or did anything rebellious) and I could really do it anytime, day or night.
There was a lot of space, thick walls, no way to hear what was going on in other parts of the building, so my family lived there with a lot of peace and quiet, a lot of personal space and freedom to make noise and move around.
I rode bikes and scooters in the house, ran and danced, had a great time.
My childhood was fucking amazing, and I am glad I didn't have any friends to speak of for most of the time... had some here and there, but again, pretty wank experiences.
There were a lot of adults that were my friends, but I don't count them in the 'friends' category for myself as a kid and teenager, adults aren't your peers, other kids are.
There were some weirdos around but all in all they were fine and I'm glad at least there were adults I could be friends with at the time, it was better than nothing.
