Sounded like Rabbi Horowitz from Park Slope back in the day. He was a bit of a trombenik, liked to stay hip by wearing converse and chain-smoking behind the temple with bits of challah in his beard, but his wife would stare at me out of the side of her Iraqi-flavored eyes, and she could cook the Yoshke out of some kubbeh.
