Space Force: A program already underway for decades, finally made public...

I recently saw a trailer for some other video game and the graphics were insane...

I don't really understand why graphics are such a big deal on video games, why people want them to look super "lifelike" or "real"...

I feel like what's fun about video games is that they're fantastical and they're not supposed to seem real.

I don't wanna play a video game with 'startlingly real' looking graphics... I want to feel like it's a game.

Probably an unpopular opinion though.

Half Life 2 had "revolutionary graphics" in 2003 but the game focus was primarily on the story. It had some mild puzzle solving areas in the game but mostly an FPS adventure with a dystopian future ran by collaborators who sided with "bad aliens." (Much like the basis for the plot of the television series "The Colony."

I agree, graphics aren't a big deal....unless you're playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Them cowboy sunsets as you're riding your horse through the forested mountains of the pacific north west. That game has good story as well.

I agree with you on 'startling real' graphics. It's a bit uncomfortable looking at some of them because your brain keeps phasing from "Is this real or rendered?" over and over. Somewhat mesmerizing but distracting.

Half Life 2 is an epic game in that the story is epic. Fans have been waiting almost 20 years for Half Life 3.

We (the players) still don't know this 'G-Man' is in the game or how he uses technology to get
inside the protagonist's head.
