Director said this was a pickup from the first one, and not really a sequel to Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions.

I watched the 3 Matrix movies and The Animatrix
I think the two sequels of the first 1999 Matrix were just fluff and made to divert attention to truths brought out
in the first one.
Why? The Matrix came out with some startling revelations about our world and how "fake" it is.
If you've ever met one of the 'sovereign citizens' (I know...I know....we all know) they claim the film was made
to expose the fake government, religious, etc institutions we believe as real because there are penalties for not
believing in it.
One thing that tipped me off to it being a key piece of propaganda listening to the monologue of Morpheus.
The lines he read when describing the matrix; some seemed 'out of place' like "you can see/feel the matrix all around you; when you go to Church....when you pay your taxes...
Not paying taxes is big with sovereigns due to the fact the constitution defines income as profits made by a corporation.
The people working and earning wages do not fit the legal criterion for "income" hence income tax on private citizens
being illegal. Wesley Snipes tried to pull a soveriegn tax-constitution definition in court and got sent to the slammer.
It doesn't mean he was wrong, just that the system is rigged.
a LONG time ago I worked in law enforcement. The only group we were 'warned' about were people who claimed "posse comitatus" and had self made identification cards and copy of the bill of rights with them.
Today, the most dangerous terrorist group the FBI has in the U.S.A. are the 'sovereign citizens.'
You'd think it was BLM, or ANTIFA, or proudboys, et al but it's a group of people you have probably
never met nor have they EVER, NOT ONE SINGLE TIME, been mentioned in the news.

Why wouldn't the media want the FBI's #1 domestic 'terror' group to be known to the U.S. and World?

they couldn't refuse, or they were Ultra'd. Neither one of them sounded female like, they both were deep voiced
males that acted like a regular dude.
Then those 'artists' used lies/metaphors/thematrix to tell the truth. Maybe someone didn't like the fire they were lighting
under the sovereign's asses. They were literally paraded as heroes to 'the cause." (Informing everyone about the fake and rigged system of courts and taxes).
Them both being regular, butchy dudes then flopping over to a tit job, hormones and hair dye..... just didn't make sense.
Also most of the information being spread to sovereigns are coming from the Moors of all people. Moroco was the first country to recognize the U.S.A. as and independent sovereign nation. Lots of Masonic garb, rituals, and knowledge come from the Moors.
