Today, I made pork steaks with French fries, carrots, and sweet peppers.
Put the pork steaks in a baking dish and cover them with apple juice. Let them soak for three hours, then pour off the apple juice. Salt and pepper on both sides, then bake on the middle oven rack at 300 degrees for an hour. Drain off the liquid, then broil on the top oven rack for a few minutes on each side.
For crispy fries, make sure your oil is hot before you add the potatoes.
Slice up some Mexican sweet peppers and finely chop maybe half an onion. Soak these in apple juice until you're ready to cook them, then pour off the juice. Saute in butter with salt, pepper, basil, and two tablespoons of sugar. When the peppers are tender, add a little bit of apple juice and continue cooking for a few minutes until it evaporates.
Remove the peppers from the skillet. Don't wash or rinse the skillet. Melt some more butter in it, and add a drained can of sliced carrots. Add salt and pepper and cook a few minutes until the carrots are tender.
