When we were writing this story, I had no idea Cowboy Bebop was a thing...

I had never heard of it, and now I'm watching this series:

I was just shocked that it's so much like this story...
And of course by no means did I think I was the first person to come up with the concept of intergalactic detectives and stuff...
But what I thought was odd was the retro throwbacks that are inherent in Cowboy Bebop.
What I'm really wondering is why when we think about a colonized local space, stop-offs on other celestial bodies, entertainment venues in orbit...
Why do we all see it in a 'film noir' kinda way?
