For most of my life, I've been a mean person. I thought I was using 'tough love', but now I see that I was just being cruel.

Furthermore, my obsession with Zane was a picture of my mental state at the time.

I'm on a path to recovery, but I am only human. I know I won't always respond the right way to people and situations...

But I see so many things that were wrong with the person I used to be.

People can change, but it's gotta be the right time. It's not something you can fake. You have to be ready, and you have to truly understand the err of your ways.

Above all, I'd like to honor the friendship I developed with Zane's wife...

It was a gift, and I'll always be grateful for that connection.
