When I looked at nebulas and shit through a telescope eyepiece though, I was somewhat disappointed.
You see all those photos on NASA's site and all the stunning colors...
It's really not very fair to the masses to see those photos and not be educated about the fact that it looks nothing like that through a telescope.
You actually have to look out of the 'corner' of your eye to see nebulas through a telescope, can't look at it straight on and see anything.
And when you do see it, it's very faint, black and white.
That was my experience at least. Was really cool to look at the planets, like Saturn though.
Saturn was a trip to look at, wow... WTF.
Really amazing experience to look at stuff through a telescope but... I got spoiled on the space pr0n presented to us by NASA and amateur astronomers who put the pics through a buttload of rendering and whatnot.
I love space... I truly do. And I still think we could communicate with aliens interstellarly someday. I just don't long for it in a super sad, desperate way anymore, lol.
