As far as bird nests etc., yes I think it's good practice to clean your hairbrushes and throw the hair out in the woods or just outside in general... you don't have to live in the woods to anonymously let a brush tumbleweed go and whistle along like it wasn't you. Just know that sometimes they get caught on unfortunate things and make people go WTF.
One time on a cruise ship in Alaska, I cleaned out my hair brush (had very long hair at that time) and threw it off the balcony of my room, out into the ocean... but I dunno if it ever made it into the water. It probably got caught on somebody else's balcony or something on the way down. Regardless, I tried to get it in the water and I was like hell yeah, me and Alaska's ocean quantumly entangled though.
