Back in the day, people didn't populate their GeoCities and their LiveJournals and Blogspots with shit they cared about because they thought anybody was WATCHING or would LIKE IT.
In those days, you didn't participate in the internet because you WANTED APPROVAL.
You didn't participate for "likes" and "shares" and hearts and stars and all that other BANAL DOGSHIT.
You wrote that fucking blog for YOURSELF.
You made that GeoCities page BECAUSE YOU LOVED THE SHIT IT WAS ABOUT.
It wasn't about himynameisbobsmith.blogspot.com ... no, it was about INTERESTS, HOBBIES, PASSION.
And those interests/hobbies/passions aren't typically named after YOURSELF. In VERY FEW INSTANCES is it appropriate to just straight up name your internet project YOUR OWN FUCKING NAME.
You INVENT names/handles (BRANDS) to represent what it is that you do.
NO ONE EVER used their fucking name back then...
It wasn't about stupid shit like that, it was about CREATION.
A lot of people are just not capable of it these days...
Or maybe they never were, and they just weren't on the internet BEFORE.
