Yeah I think it was a fluke... it was just that one little fella.

Apparently it's more likely you'll get struck by lightning than catch the hanta... nevertheless an abundance of caution should be used when handling anything they've touched. It can live for ~5 days or, but other sources say give it a few weeks. Use elbow length gloves and a mask, bleach wipes, etc.

I just cannot fucking stand the idea of a mouse lurking around, the damn things shit constantly. So gross, but I also think killing them is sad.
