"Gunsmoke" (1955) - Review & Commentary
Amanda Blake lived here for 17 years...

Definitely one of the more beautiful and elegant homes I've ever seen belonging to a famous person.

It may seem like it goes without saying that a famous/wealthy person would have an elegant/beautiful home, but a lot of times, they live in places that are a bit boring. They may be large, but there's not very much flair... many of them are downright boring and lackluster, despite the size or other features of the property.

It's also not all that common for celebs to live in places like Phoenix, AZ instead of the cookie cutter bullshit places like Hollywood, and SoCal in general... or even New York City.

Amanda Blake was special.

Quote:Ms. Blake supported Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) with donations, special appearances and fundraisers. When she passed away in 1989, she left the majority of her estate to PAWS.

During her final years, Amanda lived at the PAWS Galt, California sanctuary so she could be close to the animals she loved. She was there for the arrival of PAWS' first elephant.

Amanda's spirit lives on at PAWS. In 1997, the Amanda Blake Memorial Wildlife Refuge, located in Herald, California, was established in Ms. Blake's memory. The refuge once housed eland, fallow deer, rhea, and a small herd of scimitar-horned oryx (they have all passed away), and is now a refuge for a flock of rescued emu. Through this sanctuary, PAWS continues Amanda's commitment to the protection of animals in captivity as well as in the wild.
