A little over a year ago, I stopped reading the news.
I may see an article here and there, I may hear about some random news from YouTubers I'm subscribed to... but in general, my news consumption is down about 90%.
I spent about 2/3 of my life obsessing on global news and current events all day, every day (no exaggeration whatsoever)...
After kicking the news addiction, I can see the whole forest instead of being lost in the trees.
In 2014, I said that if the ebola scare turned out to be bullshit, I would begin to distance myself from the people who fell for it, and I would remove those influences from my life. (It was. I did.)
In 2020, I said that if the CV situation turned out to be an ulterior motive laden pack of lies, I would stop reading the news for good. (It was. I did.)
They use the news to control people, they use it to scare people, they use it to sell products, they use it to conduct mass psychological experiments.
I am glad that I am no longer taking part in the constant attention diversion that is global news.
