S12 E4 - "The Mission"
0:55 pretty sure James Arness called this shirt "pink" and it's totally not pink, it's maroon. Almost like a mauvy maroon. I can see how a dude might just consider it pink though. It's serving creamy tomato soup vibes... that's hot.
1:47 ermergerd, it's Mexican bandits! They dress so snappy though, like how can you hate??
2:57 they sure are generous with the eye candy on this show. But I know there aren't 'ugly' actors as a general rule, unless it's like their shtick to be kinda ugly or whatever.
8:22 I'm cowboysexual. End of story.
9:20 they're gonna get this poor young fella killed... and the older the marshal gets, the less keen he is on shooting the youngsters who might have a better future ahead if they'd just get on the right track.
10:18 hopefully Matt will be able to talk some sense into him and win him over from the dark side.
10:52 aaaand he's suspicious.
11:06 I don't see a badge on him, it's either hidden by his vest or he's not wearing it.
11:27 suspicions verifieddd.
11:50 well that escalated quickly.
13:24 well, these guys have sealed their fates for sure... they're all gonna die.
14:18 "Bag full 'o dicks..."
15:30 oh great. So now one of these assholes is gonna put on his badge and pretend to be him. What a fiasco, I'm surprised this isn't a two part episode.
17:00 as I'm watching this, it occurs to me that every black and white episode of these classic shows will be colorized via AI someday. Not that I think they should be.
18:55 oh man, they're playing a dangerous game.
19:50 lol, holding his gun on him... such a noob move.
21:10 he has a beautiful chin dimple.
23:30 still sore over that civil war thingy, eh??
24:50 what DO they want with him??
25:10 pft, he doesn't want anything to do with these dumbasses. Literally not even if it means freedom, lmao!
25:20 he sees the perfect weakness within the group that he can manipulate to his favor.
26:10 "prisoners" plural... so when's he getting his hands on that badge?! *rubs hands together, devious grin*
26:20 man these guys are dumb! Excellent!
27:36 James Arness so totally deserved to end up in this iconic "Dream Man" role... knowing he used to be so self-conscious of his height and stature, it makes a lot of sense that he would end up in this position. Everything he felt set him apart in a bad way ended up setting him on a pedestal that I believe remains untarnished to this day. Well done.
29:07 such excellent actors on this show, there still hasn't been a guest star who dropped the ball and outright sucked. A few have come close, but they were ultimately successful. I'll point out the first fail guest star when I see 'em. I'm wondering if the switch to color will make them rethink the ridiculous bleached blondes they've had on the show. That's definitely expecting way too much though. It can only be so good. It was fine to watch in black and white, but I may not be able to tolerate it in color.
Just a fair warning... I will refuse to put up with any bullshit they try to pull on this show. If I start seeing too much shit I don't like, I am not gonna guarantee I will continue watching it. And if they piss me off too bad, I have this box set in mint condition, with a stand-alone zip case included for free. Do not try me. It's rare I bother selling shit on eBay, but I will do it just on principle alone.
These season 12 episodes are ALL like movies. Straight, 100% movies crammed into like ~47 minutes. I can't believe they did this for 20 years... whoa. It's like filming a major movie, for most of the year, for 20 years. Anyone who's ever been on a movie production for the usual ~1 year KNOWS. They know how serious that is. To a lot of actors, it probably kiiinda sounds like hell.
It's only worth it for the novelty... Gunsmoke is super niche and reigns supreme in its genre. It's solid for the foreseeable future... western shows have come along and challenged it, but they were short running. 'Supernatural' was a long running show in its genre and probably won't be outdone on that front for a long time. 'Battlestar Galactica' has tried it for the sci-fi long running, but "Dr. Who" continues to control the #1 sci-fi spot.
As novelty wears off the 'long running' aspect of shows, the true classic giants will still be left standing alone... of those, Gunsmoke is #1. I genuinely don't believe that's debatable. The Simpsons is the #1 long-running show, and it's a cartoon. South Park is #2, and it's a cartoon. Do you really think a competition between Gunsmoke, and ACTUAL soap operas or FUCKING LAW & ORDER is a contest?! It's not.

Oh, and 'Family Guy' creeps in that list too... *eyeroll*
Bitch please.
29:40 what're they in some kinda gay relationship or something??
29:48 "I'm sorry," well that's a start!?
31:14 OMG he's so good.
32:30 nicest guy ever.
34:00 I've always loved the pronunciation of "importante"... that's hot.
35:20 the Marshal looks absolutely gorgeous.
36:00 you can tell he's the real marshal by his body language alone, thankfully this guy has better judgement than Matt did in S12 E1.
36:55 wow, how did I NOT see that coming!?
38:00 this guy has really bad taste in friends, rofl.
38:40 this is like the worst carnage on Gunsmoke ever.
39:55 oh man, these dudes are so screwed now.
41:00 why does this guy sound like Doc?
41:06 I still bet he's setting them up.
41:45 these guys are so dead, this show is sooo eerie sometimes. Alright, I'm doing a predicted death count, I bet there will only be the marshal and one outlaw left at the end. The Mexican guy might survive too and then immediately go his own way.
42:04 why don't they make dark colored slings for times such as this??
42:46 it's all going like I said.
46:20 there's never been a greater badass than Marshal Dillon.
48:10 such a great death scene, that guy was too legit to quit though. My prediction wasn't 100% right about the ending.
49:12 look how stoked he is to put on that badge.

Quote:The Simpsons is also the longest-running scripted television show of all time.
