"Gunsmoke" (1955) - Review & Commentary
S14 E5 - "Slocum"

Slo... cum??? I mean, okay, don't mind if I do!? *dancing banana*

0:40 so I'm chillin' to this episode with some dinner. Just stir fry mushrooms on top of salt/pepper/parsley seasoned white rice, and a nice splash of soy sauce. Mmmm, damn, it's as good as it is simple. Absolutely freaking delicious.

1:12 this tune sounds really familiar.

1:20 aha... reminds me of "Signs" by The Five Man Electrical Band, but that song came out in 1970 and this episode aired in 1968. Perhaps it's another song. But it does sound familiar and this is as close as I could place it.

2:17 daaaaammmnnnn yo, this episode is going hard as FUCK two minutes in, lmao. Never seen THIS on the show before. WTTTTFFFF.

2:27 this old guy would be the PERFECT traveling partner... *nods*

3:23 I'm in love with Miss Kitty.

4:11 I wonder if they put red eyeliner on Louie to make him look sorta fucked up. It's really authentic.

4:18 I've noticed the fade-to-black scenes between the second intro and some of the other instances are EXTRRRAAAAA long this season. Maybe even started in season 13, can't remember. But we're talking about a LONG time (2 seconds it feels like) of total black screen, which takes away altogether at least 6 seconds of screentime from the show. Back in its EARLY days, that would have been totally unacceptable.

6:06 I guess back in the day, you'd have to have a great memory since there weren't a lot of options for taking notes on the fly.

7:36 oh my damn... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Sandor Hottie McHotHot in the heezy!!!!!!!

8:50 this guy is fucking AWESOME.

45:00 we've got ourselves a regular Cujo up in here!!!
