How can people with parents they hate get past how much they hate their parents and give them the permission to be individuals?
I think that's one of my main questions.
Why do people see their family member as a slave without an identity that has its own will and function?

You see this behavior between spouses/partners.
But it's next level shit when you see it from the kids who are either brainwashed, or just mentally ill as a result of being raised in that family dynamic. Understandable, but at a certain point you gotta get over it and have compassion for people... even your loved ones, shocker!
People are clueless and selfish. That's what I take away from this.
Everyone is an asshole and I'm on no one's side.
