Challenged childhoods can be a cyclic type of problem within families and generations though... and it's basic psychology too. It doesn't mean people don't love their family and vice versa, it just means people have to break the cycle somehow. When people leave a family/friend/group situation, it's usually cuz they want that cycle of generational behavior to cease.
I think it's actually really respectable when people choose to leave those situations and begin their lives anew. It's really hard to do and they should be celebrated when they succeed. Kelli's got a great entrepreneurial spirit, so I'm sure she'd be fine. People should be happy for her, but they're mad instead and holding onto resentment about it. This is actually so common.
