Apparently Marilyn had a bad case of endometriosis since puberty, which caused painful menstrual cramps and just an overall struggle with anything relating to the menstrual cycle...

I have never been diagnosed with it, but I have all the symptoms. It's sadly pretty common with 1 in 10 women having it, varying degrees of severity and symptoms present.
It causes infertility and this could be one of the reasons why Marilyn was never able to carry a pregnancy to full term... ectopic pregnancy is very common with endometriosis, meaning that even if sperm makes it past all the scar tissue etc. and does fertilize an egg, that egg implants outside of the uterus and is just doomed.
Really makes sense. Couple that with the real possibility that Marilyn had been the victim of several botched hollywood abortions (the infections from which left many classic hollywood actresses unable to conceive) and this is likely why Marilyn never had children even though she so badly wanted to be a mother.
