"Gunsmoke" (1955) - Review & Commentary
S15 E7 - "Charlie Noon"

I'm gonna be 100% honest about this episode and the one after it. I kind of sneaked a peak at the synopsis of these two episodes the other day and I was like, "Yeah, those sound like they're basically gonna suck." Lmao. I'm just being real. They sound like pure and total filler episodes by synopsis alone.

Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see. But I've put off watching til now because I just wasn't excited about these upcoming episodes and I gotta remember never to read the synopsis first because it just leads me into pre-judgement of the episodes. Plus, I'm feeling fucking cross this evening. Like the whole bag of douches, for real. Just the entire bag. I'm not gonna excuse even the slightest fuckup out of Gunsmoke tonight.

1:22 oh, I didn't realize James Best was in this episode. That's kinda righteous. I think this is the oldest I've ever seen him.

2:00 I get that they've just murdered some people, but is it really necessary to say that kind of shit about them? Lmao.

2:50 well I think it's pretty obvious he's gonna be in love with her by the end of the episode.

3:55 fuck me, that's Ron Howard!!!!!! I clearly didn't even bother to look at the cast list when I read the synopsis?!

5:00 add that one into the "Marshal Dillon Backhands" file.

5:50 good Lord, I don't remember ever seeing this many shirtless hotass Indian dudes on the show before though.

6:11 those desert acoustics though?! Man, this is more like a movie than it is an episode of Gunsmoke. I shouldn't be surprised at this point.

6:30 I'm sorry but that's just creepy as hell. I guess that's the point but... yikes. What're they, triangulatin' or somethin'?

6:38 "Take Jamie and run." roflmfaolfoalolol. If you know, you know. Gunsmoke diehards know. It's right up there with the dog barking omen.

7:47 and this necessitates care and opens the door for him to fall in love with her. It's all so transparent. I wonder if somebody watching this show for the first time would see it going that way from the get-go as well? I feel like they would... I think sometimes it's all heavily implied through various techniques and it's about telling the story rather than keeping things mysterious.

10:12 uh oh, she just fucked him up super hard.

11:30 this guy is so lame. Like literally.

15:18 he said "Best get mounted, ma'am"... FIX THE FUCKING CAPTIONS NEXT TIME. I could do a better job. Hire someone who GIVES A FUCK.

19:55 I was wondering how the fuck that was supposed to be her son.

21:50 typically I really like Ron Howard, I mean I've always considered him a great actor even since he was a little kid. I was always really impressed with his acting abilities. But I ain't feelin' him in this guest appearance... maybe it's cuz he's so young, like he's not Andy Griffith Show young, but he's not Happy Days 'older' yet. He's in this strange in-between where it's like agh... I just don't even. At least they tagged his character with a good name though.

23:55 I dunno why he's flapping his gums, this lady's not an idiot.

24:24 "Some of 'em needed it, some of 'em didn't." Lol, God bless the old west.

25:30 Matt's mouth looks swollen in this episode. Maybe he had some dental work IRL and had to continue on with filming anyway... wouldn't be surprised. Could also just be the 'dirt' makeup that causes it to look different too... but I think it's swollen.

25:53 "Nothing is sacred to you." Guuuurl. Word though. Like... word.

26:06 TBH, at least he's making himself useful.

28:46 what is with this guy and smelling things???

29:23 well you might as well play the role, buddy... you know you wanna.

30:00 "Look how white our teeth are under this day-to-night filter!"

30:13 well, bravery means being scared but doing it anyway sonny.

30:33 "Man that isn't ever afraid... he's a fool." I knew they were gonna say something to that effect, lol.

34:17 "My old man was a loser." Daaaaaammmmnnnnn.

35:50 well I think we can all see how this is gonna end.

37:06 yeah he's right... that'd just make a mean, bad man outta that kid.

45:50 great scene.

Well... that didn't suck.
