The little grocery store where I buy 20 pound bags of ice for $2 was sold out this morning, so I had to settle for an overpriced 7 pound bag of convenience store ice.
I was in the flea market parking lot for less than an hour when a couple of guys rolled up in a golf cart and told me they don’t allow people to sell in their parking lot. I moved to a vacant lot across the street where a few people were selling puppies and watermelons. This was on a long, empty stretch of a broad thoroughfare with no foot traffic.
When someone gives you a business idea, ask them if they’ve ever done it themselves and whether it worked out.
I decided to try the lake. One side of the lake is bounded by a high levee or sea wall with a one-lane road and bicycle path on top of it. I figured I could catch some thirsty joggers or bicyclists there. There were quite a few people out, but nobody stopped.
I went to the night shelter parking lot, where I eventually sold two pops. It was getting close to check-in time by then, so I decided to call it a day.
The showers aren’t working again tonight, and they want us to go easy on the water. I squirted some body wash on a washcloth and got it wet in the water fountain, then went back to my bunk and wiped down from face to waist. I’m gonna try to surreptitiously wipe the rest of me down before the evening is through.
