The real reason Bob Dylan and Joan Baez went their separate ways in the '60s was because she wanted him to go hardcore political and champion all the bleeding heart causes, and he didn't want to. She was probably in love with him, sure... but I think her intentions were mostly self-centered and she just wanted him to be everything she wanted him to be instead of what he really was. She wanted him to be her personal "protest hero"... that was her fantasy, and it's a good thing he didn't do what she wanted.
