While there is DEFINITELY some truth to that, it's very much overridden by the aesthetic desire of the man, and the desire for his partner to have a distinct lack of intelligence.
This is proven by the fact that it's suddenly all good as long as you pop in a pair of contacts.
Dumb = easily controlled/manipulated.
Dumb = easy to trap and none the wiser until it's too late.
Smart = threat on every level.
She can be somewhat intelligent, but she can never be more intelligent than he is... unacceptable.
