I will say though...
James Mangold was responsible for a couple good movies...
"Kate & Leopold" (2001) was good.
"Knight & Day" (2010) was totally excellent, very fun and lighthearted film with many very funny moments.
I never saw his Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" (2005) cuz I'm not hardcore into Johnny Cash like that. I've heard it was great.
Judging by the Mangold movies I HAVE seen, I don't really understand how he's the guy to tackle a truly good biopic about early Bob Dylan, but okay.
My issue isn't really with Mangold, it's with Chalamet. I just can't imagine him being capable of a character that isn't wrapped up in a pervy demented girly-boy saga.
Bob Dylan never struck me as a girly-boy, even in his young/babyfaced years, so I dunno why the hell they chose Timothee. I guess it's just cuz he's the flavor du jour amongst the audiences who will be willing to pay just to see him.
I am going in with low expectations for this movie and expecting it to harbor some offensive pervy shit...
I really hope it doesn't, but with expectations that low, it'll be hard to disappoint me.
Maybe I'll give it a chance after it comes out, after I see some previews. I dunno, I just hope they don't disrespect Bob's legacy with some filthy perv trash, that would be so gross.
