HP Printers: Made to fail?

Essentially a brand new printer too, mind you.

Very rarely used.

Used enough to necessitate the changing of the ink ONCE.

Lightly used.

Has sat in the same area of the office undisturbed since it came out of the box.

And yet it is now absolutely useless.
