I've run sites on a home account before. The ISPs try to prevent it, so you usually have to use some kind of dynamic DNS service to keep your domain name pointed at your home server.
One guy on YouTube recommends Hostinger, Bluehost, and SiteGround as the three best providers. I think he has affiliate links in the description, so it may not be a totally unsolicited testimonial.
