Property taxes are a lot less than mortgage payments.
Ultimately, nobody really owns their home...
BECAUSE of taxes, because the government can just take it from you, etc.
The answer is to live as sustainably and minimally as possible.
No one needs one of these ridiculous big houses in a cookie cutter neighborhood.
Even a normal sized home out in the boonies brings its own host of problems.
I think people should live in fairly small (easily replaceable) structures on a few acres, not use AC, burn wood for heat if you're dumb enough to live somewhere that gets cold, grow a manageable garden, and just stay out of the BS game of collecting "things" instead of experiences.
