Yeah if you don't rotate on a regular schedule the front tires will disappear way faster than the back. The point of rotation is to make them wear out at the same rate.
That said, if you get two new ones you should put them on the back and move the current back ones to the front. This is what most tire shops have told me.
I've gone through a fuckton of tires and have changed two at a time before, and it's fine though it's not my ideal situation.
Just never let the tread on any tire get below the top of Lincoln's head on a penny when you insert it upside down.
