Wonder if Katie's ever considered using henna on her hair to naturally cover the grays.
I dunno what color it'd change her hair to. I've seen dark hair just get kinda darker with a vaguely reddish tone afterward, but I guess it really varies from person to person.
She seems like one of those "OMG BRASSY TONES" snobs so she probably wouldn't like it.
I love orange hair so I cannot relate to those people.
I would go the henna route if I had grays and really wanted them covered. I don't use permanent dyes and bleaches on my hair... the damage it does to the hair cancels out any short term enjoyment you might get from the color.
Having healthy hair with some gray is better than having chemically fried hair.
