If they did hear banging and they believed the passengers were alive and just trapped underwater in a net or something, they wouldn't tell the public, it's just too disturbing.

I have a hard time believing any banging coming from the vessel would even be audible.

If they could hear banging "in the area" then they could absolutely find the sub.

Maybe they did find it but there's nothing they can do so they're not gonna tell the public that.

I dunno. I find it hard to believe that it didn't implode.

Maybe initially assuming implosion was way too positive an outlook.

Not really.

It's just a deep sea bacteria covered blob now, if anything ran into it with much force it would probably just collapse.
