With the doubts that Aaron guy raised around the air system... it seems like they may have gotten stuck down there and ran out of oxygen way before the 96 hours we keep hearing about.

It seems totally possible that they detected the banging on the sonar, but never had eyes on the sub because there aren't even any subs that can get down that fucking far.

I just never considered those possibilities because I was sold on the likelihood of implosion.

Needless to say, OceanGate is never gonna be operating again. I hope the families can sue the shit out of them somehow, because wow.

The idea that they actually made it down there and started poking around the Titanic graveyard and then got stuck...

Well that's just eerie, yo.

In that case, running out of oxygen far sooner than projected would have been nothing short of a blessing.

Well, not at their disposal at least.

They probably don't have legal recourse.

Will have to introduce some type of regulation for subs used in these retarded undertakings in the future...

That'll be the only justice ever seen in this situation.

Totally nuts that these people paid to ride in that thing.

What the hell has gotta be wrong in your life to pay $250k to be put in a situation like that??

Doesn't seem like buying happiness to me.

Quote:In the documents, Lochridge reported learning that the viewport was only certified to work in depths of up to 1300 meters. The Titanic wreckage sits at nearly 4000 meters.

Apparently they've still been hearing some kind of sounds from the sonar... but how often do they listen for sounds in that part of the ocean on purpose? Prolly basically never. I'm just saying.

It really doesn't matter if they can still hear survivors or not... they can't get to them. Probably couldn't rescue them even if they were just stuck in a net "closer" to the surface. Which, odds are, is still way too far for even a military sub to venture to.

The only bright spot would be if the buoys are picking up the banging noise from the surface. If they're on the surface banging on the craft then they could be saved if found in time. If they're underwater, there's no chance of saving them.

Apparently the sonar buoys can pick up the tiniest sounds from a great distance.
