Stockton's hopes of innovation didn't go over too well, and this situation will impede any attempts at similar innovative strategy for at least a decade.

Still can't wrap my mind around what exactly makes gawking at a rusty hunk of metal with a tragic history so fucking "wonderful", but okay.

They were attempting to shed weight and come back up to the surface in order to get to a depth with lesser PSI in time.

He's the first person I've heard who was willing to say this, so props to him.

They may have known their situation was potentially dire and they may have panicked...

But those feelings they may have momentarily encountered followed by death within milliseconds is still a far better scenario than being trapped for days or suffocating.
