OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush: Elon Musk of the Sea, Titan Was His Starship
#33

Yikes yikes yikes yikes yikes.

Gives some perspective on the people who have taken that journey before and how it could have been any of these people who died in the Titan.

Rush really did see it as an exploration and a pioneering of uncharted territory.

He just really fucked up by taking the wrong approach with his desire to innovate.

He should have come at it from a standpoint of rallying interest behind ocean exploration, he should have pioneered a global awareness of the importance of exploring the ocean.

Instead of getting the proper momentum behind the whole concept, he went straight into trying to get down there by any means necessary to start fulfilling his vision.

He wanted it all to happen too fast... that's just not how things work in this world. If he'd taken the Elon approach, he'd have resolved himself to the fact that the perfecting of his vision may not even take place in his own lifetime.

But it would have been worth the wait in order to do it right, make it longstanding, rally interest and focus and determination toward the end goal.

What a shame.
