Bottom line...
According to the description of the 'alien' creature they saw...
Oily skin with an almost worm-like texture, huge red eyes, seemed scared, seemed to be suffering in the light/heat of the sun...
It was an inner earth lifeform.
What the heck was it doing on the surface?? Who knows.
I have my doubts it was even related to the UFO crash in the area.
But I think even if they did come from some type of aircraft, that doesn't mean it didn't come from the inner earth.
There are endless accounts of UFOs rising from the water, lakes, oceans, seas all around the world...
Vast cave systems exist all throughout the planet at various depths and they can be used for travel.
This was a sub-surface creature.

Just like any cave dwelling creature with red eyes and almost translucent skin... digits which function to grab hold of surfaces that are probably sort of slimy and always damp.
It's very obvious to me.
So the "theory" is that the inner sun (planet's core) has a buffer around it that allows for the innermost creatures to observe it in a similar way as we observe our sun here on the surface.
The vast array of different landscapes that exist underground host creatures of all kinds, just as many as are on the planet's surface, in the oceans, etc.
There could be places underground which do have some light from the core, and this could be why some of these sub-surface creatures have eyes at all.
