Being a vegetarian didn't work out for me. Let me explain...

Bowing down briefly before I continue.

Rather than reverence of the animals being 'virtue signaling', I have to make it clear that animal worship is a very personal thing and not something I would openly advertise for attention or something. The worship goes on within a person... it's a private experience. Of course I agree with you as any sensible person should that personally worshipping the animals does little for them on a real world basis. I am putting my own feelings about the matter out there rather than speaking on it as a world issue or something.

Vegans/vegetarians largely seem to think that by abstaining from animal products, they're somehow magically helping improve the lives of animals, or save their lives. A lot of them get involved in hardcore activism trying to "spread the vegan message" as a mechanism of helping the animals. Raising awareness is great, but it still really doesn't effectively solve this problem of animal abuse.

Your donation suggestion is the closest thing to a solution that I have seen offered... but really people need to get in there up close and personal and change the paradigm. There's a big problem of stubbornness and denial when it comes to the vegan/vegetarian community. The world isn't going to 'go vegan', I'm sorry, it's not gonna happen. And if it did, I'm pretty sure (at least judging by my own experience) everyone would get sick and start dying within 5-10 years. I mean it would be glaringly obvious that shit isn't working out even before that timeframe.

People need to look at the situation realistically... we're going to eat animals. We're gonna keep doing it. So let's make the lives of the animals better. I mean it's so damn fucking simple...

If vegan/vegetarian activists would try to advocate fiercely for better conditions instead of just telling everyone to stop eating meat entirely (unrealistic, sorry, not sorry) then I think it would be a much faster process.
