So, last night a little while before knocking off I got the "Ad blockers are not allowed
on YouTube" screen on a video I clicked on. It was a full-on block. No way of closing
it or doing anything - UNLESS I would allow YT ads... I did not.
I had seven or eight other tabs open with YT vids paused in progress and clicked play
on each of them to see if they'd maybe play for a few seconds and then default to
that same screen - they didn't, so I paused them all again and closed the tab that
effectively locked me out of watching anything. Then, I shut the laptop.
Upon opening the laptop today I noticed when I opened a new tab for a fresh YT
page I was able to click on a few vids and they all played with no issues. Like they
had been forever. Sooo, Idkwtf is going on. I Google'd "YouTube Ad block boycott"
and got a small few results linking to reddit posts. Reluctantly, I clicked on a couple.
Duuuude, the shit I would have to do to circumvent this ad block bullshit
is crazy-ridiculous-nonsense! Especially since I'm no tech wizard. Jeeeeezus H.
Fornicator, it would take an hour to jump through all those hoops - AND THEN people
were saying they were having to rinse & repeat all those steps every couple or so
hours cuz YT was up on the UBlock Origin game and knew they had a shitload of
volunteers working OFF the clock, around the clock to jimmy new ways around
every update they were putting in place with their tattle-ware.
So I went to bed thinking I'd either have to allow ads for the few videos I really
want to watch or I'd just delete EVERY fucking upload I've got and THEN - my account!
Good thing I slept on it, as today it seemed to go back to normal. Probably not
for long though. It really is a thing of principle - they've got way more than enough
money from all the bullshit they've got in motion. They need to fuck off and stop being
so goddamn money-hungry! I'll keep watching as long as I don't have to run ads.
YouTube, you motherfuckers are fuckin' UP!!
