I just got the impression that Diddy wanted out from under Biggie's thumb and I think he probably really did have something to do with his death. Did Diddy ever actually get that popular though? Meh, I mean I guess. Doubt he was as big as he'd envisioned he'd be.
I think rather than rapping and really having hits, he probably just wanted the reputation to be able to use as a power play over other people in the industry, like Bieber. People who would do whatever he wanted just to get some support for their career.
